Panic at the White House – Secret Service shoot an armed man
A White House secret service agent shot an armed man in front of the White House. It is unclear yet if the man posed a danger or if he was merely armed.
Because the man put up a struggle and refused to drop his weapon Secret Service shot him in the stomach and rushed him to the hospital in a critical condition.
Due to the incident the White House has been shut down for a period of time. At the time of the incident Barack Obama was not present in the White House as he was playing golf in Maryland, however vice president Joe Biden was on the premises at the time and was taken to a secure area. There were several tourists around, but no one got hurt.
Motive is unknown
The possible motive of the armed man is of yet unknown, however several media report that it is likely an unbalanced individual who was not even well versed in the usage of the weapon.
This is not the first similar recent incident that occurred at the White house. In April the Secret Service arrested a man who was climbing over the White House fence, in 2014 a man with a knife charges into the premises and in 2011 Oscar Ortega-Hernandez was shot in the White House for trying to allegedly kill Barack Obama.
